February 13, 2013Tonight's clash in Memphis features the top two schools in Conference USA.
The No. 22 Tigers (20-3) are winners of 14 straight and claim sole possession of first place with a perfect 9-0 record.
UCF (17-6) is tied for second in the league at 702 and they can take a big step to competing for that top spot with a win against Memphis. The Knights though have never defeated the Tigers inside FedEX Forum.
Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. EST on CBS Sports Network.
UCF and Memphis have played every season since 2005-06 and they'll continue to do so in the future as both programs are joining the Big East.
A year ago, I wrote a feature about a forgotten piece of UCF basketball history. In 1976, the Division II Knights (then known as Florida Tech) gave Memphis all they could handle despite playing with a limited roster. Travel issues prevented the entire team (and coaching staff) from arriving on time and their equipment was also left behind, so the Knights played with uniforms provided by Memphis.
