June 23, 2013UCF will have one of the most unique courts in college basketball this season.
The Knights' new playing surface will be officially unveiled Monday and all signs are pointing to a nearly all-black design.
Last Thursday, the school's marketing department took to Twitter and Facebook to begin promotion of #OperationBlackTop, which was the first hint the new court may look different than the previously-released rendering.
The hype continued Friday morning when the court was delivered via UPS to the CFE Arena. In the afternoon, media members begain receiving mailed invitations to attend Monday's unveiling ceremony. The enclosed card pictured the following graphic:
On Sunday night, UCF's official athletics Twitter account, @UCFKnights, posted a teaser photo which indicated the court will indeed feature a black stain:
They also tweeted a picture of the court's American Athletic Conference logo. The Knights will play an 18-game round robin conference schedule this year which means every league member - Cincinnati, UConn, Houston, Louisville, Memphis, Rutgers, South Florida, SMU and Temple - will visit the CFE Arena in 2013-14.
Monday's reveal is scheduled for shortly after 12 noon.
