July 25, 2013The wave of conference realignment appears to have calmed, but UCF president Dr. John Hitt believes more shakeups could still be on the horizon.
Speaking at Thursday's Board of Trustees meeting, Hitt discussed their budgetary state of affairs including the lower-than-expected American Athletic Conference revenue, then added several comments about future expansion in Power Five leagues.
Andy Zunz of the Central Florida Future provided an excellent recap of the meeting and published the following quote from Hitt:
"A year ago, we were assuming, rather confidently, that the annual payout from the conference to member institutions would be around $10 million," Hitt said during the meeting. "Who would have thought the conference makeup would be where it is today a year ago? And I don't think we're through."
