September 21, 2013UCF will be showcased to the entire nation next Saturday as the Sept. 28 home game against South Carolina has been picked up for exclusive national television coverage by ABC.
The Knights (3-0) have made many appearances on cable networks, but this will be their debut on an over-the-air broadcast network.
Last Monday, the American Athletic Conference announced the game would be televised at 12 noon by either ABC, ESPN or ESPNU. Late Saturday night, the league confirmed the game would be aired by ABC.
Sometimes, the network airs multiple games to different regions, but this game will be aired in every market in the United States. On Sept. 14, the exclusive ABC noon game between UCLA and Nebraska received a 2.7 rating and was seen by approximately 4.19 million viewers, according to Sports Media Watch.
The highest television number for a UCF football game was the 2010 Liberty Bowl against Georgia. Aired by ESPN, the Knights' 10-6 win received a 3.0 rating with 4.75 million viewers.
UCF improved to 3-0 for the first time since 1988 after last Saturday's 34-31 win at Penn State. The Knights began picking up votes in the polls and were the third team on the outside of the AP Top 25.
No. 12 South Carolina (2-1) will be the first ranked opponent to visit Bright House Networks Stadium since UCF's 2009 upset of No. 13 Houston.
