Zamari Maxwell commits to UCF

Since the beginning of this recruiting cycle, Zamari Maxwell had been one of UCF's top defensive targets.

The Largo (Fla.) Pinellas Park cornerback visited several times last spring and summer and returned during the season for his official visit.

On Monday, with no fanfare, he committed to UCF head coach Scott Frost and Travis Fisher, his future position coach. He edited his Twitter bio on Wednesday morning to reflect his status and confirmed his decision shortly thereafter.

"I'm not all that into social media," Maxwell said. "I just don't really care about all that kind of attention."

Maxwell had also taken official visits to Iowa and Iowa State.

"The biggest thing to me about UCF is the coaches," Maxwell said. "I feel the most comfortable there. It's close to home and they set you up really well to have academic success too. There's an opportunity to play early with UCF graduating a lot of cornerbacks."

With this latest pledge, UCF is back to 19 commitments in the 2017 class with about five spots remaining.
