New signee for 2013?

Cornerback Jamonte Jones will be a late addition to UCF's 2013 recruiting class, according to a report in the Ocala Star-Banner.

Jones, who had a standout season at Trinity Catholic and earned the newspaper's Defensive Player of the Year, went unsigned as schools didn't think he would qualify academically. But UCF's George O'Leary promised him a spot if he overcame those obstacles, which included raising his ACT score.

Last week, the NCAA Clearinghouse informed Jones he had completed the needed steps, paving the way for his full ride at UCF. The newspaper reported he will officially sign on Thursday afternoon.

"I just want to go down there and compete for a starting spot," Jamonte told the Ocala Star-Banner. "I want to try to do a little kick return and punt return. I'm going to work hard and try to make a name for myself, on the field and in the classroom."

His twin brother, Damonte Jones, will also enroll at UCF as a walk-on. They'll join Jordan McCray, Justin McCray, Shaquem Griffin and Shaquill Griffin as the third set of twins on the roster.

UCFSports.com plans to speak with Jones as soon as possible.
