Sykes to return to UCF for senior season

Isaiah Sykes will return to UCF for his senior season.

The Detroit native had previously declared for the NBA Draft, a necessary step in order to receive feedback from the NBA undergraduate advisory committee, but did not hire an agent. Tuesday is the deadline to make a final decision.

The news, which was first reported by Paul Tenorio of the Orlando Sentinel, was later confirmed by Sykes via Twitter, who also retweeted countless congratulatory messages from fans.

An All-Conference USA first team selection, Sykes averaged 16.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.3 steals. He also made UCF history by recording a pair of triple-doubles.

His draft stock is certain to rise if he can post similar numbers in UCF's inaugural season in the American Athletic Conference. The 2013-14 slate will be the best in school history as the Knights will play a round-robin schedule against the other nine teams in the league, which include defending national champion Louisville, UConn, Memphis, Cincinnati and Temple.
