Arizona QB Jamarye Joiner to visit UCF this weekend

UCF's search for a quarterback in the 2018 class is focusing on Arizona.

The Knights officially offered Brock Purdy and Jamarye Joiner on Wednesday night. Purdy is booked to visit Jan. 19, while Joiner confirmed Thursday morning he will visit UCF this weekend.

Joiner, a commitment to Arizona, had originally been scheduled to visit the Wildcats but those plans are on hold while UA continues to search for a new head coach following the recent dismissal of Rich Rodriguez.

Joiner has also scheduled visits to Nebraska (Jan. 19), Baylor (Jan. 26) and Alabama (Feb. 2).

Being recruited personally by head coach Josh Heupel and quarterbacks coach Jeff Lebby, Joiner said he is excited to see what UCF has to offer.

"I'll be there Friday through Sunday," Joiner said. "I don't know much yet, but I'll know I'll find out a lot this weekend."

UCF is his fourth official offer, joining Arizona, Arizona State and Nebraska.

Joiner is a true double-threat quarterback. As a senior, he completed 57 percent of his passes for 2,196 yards, 26 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. On the ground, he rushed for 1,399 yards, an average of 8.5 yards per carry.

Quarterback is a tremendous need for UCF in this class. The Knights have just two scholarship players (McKenzie Milton, Darriel Mack Jr.) left on the roster following Noah Vedral's decision to transfer.
