Former Big Ten TE to transfer to UCF

Former Wisconsin tight end Jake Hescock is transferring to UCF.

The 6-foot-7, 252-pound Massachusetts native visited on Thursday and committed shortly before the Knights' first practice of preseason camp.

"I was looking for a place that made me feel like part of the family and the minute I stepped on campus I knew that UCF was the right choice," Hescock said. "Coach Frost and the staff were very friendly and honest with me. I feel like I can make a big impact there in years to come."

Per NCAA transfer rules, Hescock will sit out this season and be eligible as a redshirt sophomore in 2018. Tight end will be a big need next year as UCF's top three players at the position - Jordan Akins, Jordan Franks and Michael Colubiale - are seniors.

Hescock redshirted at Wisconsin in 2016, spending this past spring on the defensive side as a defensive end. He announced his intent to transfer earlier this summer.

A three-star prospect in the Class of 2016, Hescock garnered high school offers from UConn, Pittsburgh, Temple and Wake Forest before committing early to Wisconsin. He attended the Salisbury School in Connecticut where he was a team captain and class president. As a senior, Hescock caught 23 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns.
