Jeremiah Zio commits to UCF

UCF landed one of their top defensive targets on Sunday.

Jeremiah Zio, a 6-foot-6 defensive end who attends Admiral Farragut Academy in St. Petersburg, committed at the conclusion of his weekend official visit.

"After a long and fun recruiting process, I'm proud and blessed to be committed to play football at UCF!," Zio posted to his Instagram account.

Landing an offer earlier this year, Zio has always been a high priority for the Knights' staff. Prior to this visit, Zio attended the spring game and also followed up with a summer visit.

"I like the atmosphere," Zio said recently. "I like that I'm only two hours from home. I really like the people there and all the coaches."

His other offers included Cincinnati, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina, Rutgers and West Virginia.

UCF is up to 19 pledges in their 2017 class with a Rivals.com team recruiting ranking of No. 42.
