UCF's 2018 recruiting class is getting a late boost.

Kenny Turnier, a former Oregon State player, announced on Sunday that he has committed to UCF and will be enrolling later this summer. The former Miami (Fla.) Central product spent this past season at Ventura (Calif.) College where he transferred after tearing an ACL his freshman year at OSU.

Turnier, who was recruited by Randy Shannon, will play defensive end at UCF. He has lined up an official visit for April 30.

"I'm very excited about the commitment," Turnier said. "I can't wait to visit. I will be good to be home. I love the culture of the program and I already know a couple players on the team. I know their mindset clicks with mine."

In fact, it was his former Ventura teammate - offensive lineman Trevor Elbert who enrolled at UCF in January - that announced Turnier's commitment via Twitter.

Turnier visited Toledo in January and also had offers this time around from Indiana, Kansas and FIU. He's on track to graduate from Ventura at the end of May and plans to report to UCF shortly thereafter with three seasons of eligibility remaining.

A former high school basketball player, Turnier started playing football his senior year at Miami Central. He grabbed the attention then of several programs, UCF included.

In 2017, his first full season since his senior year of high school, Turnier posted 56 tackles, 4.5 sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery.
