Knights open C-USA Championship

UCF has a championship in their sights when they open play today in the Conference USA Tournament in Pearl, Miss.
The Knights, who earned the No. 2 seed by virtue of their second place regular season finish, are grouped in a pod with No. 3 Tulane, No. 6 East Carolina and No. 7 UAB whom they'll play over the next three days.

First on the schedule at 12 noon today is UAB. The Knights won the season series in Orlando two games to one. UCF freshman pitcher Eric Skoglund (5-1, 2.01 ERA) faces off against the Blazers' Michael Busby (4-4, 4.20 ERA), who on April 8 pitched 5.0 innings and gave up 10 hits and six earned runs in an 8-7 loss to UCF.

UCF will play East Carolina on Friday 4 p.m. and then Tulane on Saturday at 12 noon.
The team with the best record advances to Sunday's championship game against the pod winner of No. 1 Rice, No. 4 Southern Miss, No. 5 Memphis and No. 8 Houston. In the event of a three-way tie, the team with the highest seed advances.
The winner of the title game receives C-USA's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. UCF could potentially get back into the NCAA Regional hosting mix should they win the next four games.
Every UCF game in the tournament will be carried live on the radio by 740 The Game.
