Marshall beats UCF, 82-70

Though they made a late run, UCF couldn't recover from a poor first half that allowed Marshall to shoot 60 percent from the floor and race to a 48-34 lead going into halftime.
The Herd led by 22 points with under 10 minutes to go. The Knights rallied to cut that deficit to eight with 4:23 remaining, but couldn't get any closer before ultimately falling, 82-70.

Defense, or the lack of it, was cited as the primary reason for the loss.
Isaiah Sykes led the Knights with 23 points and 11 rebounds before fouling out with a couple minutes remaining. Calvin Newell scored 16 points.
Four Marshall players scored in double figures, led by Elijah Pittman with 20.
With the loss, the Knights fall to 17-9 and 7-5 in C-USA.
UCF's homestand continues on Saturday as Tulsa (14-12, 6-6) pays a visit to Orlando.
