No. 8 UCF Soccer finishes atop C-USA

The eighth ranked UCF Women's Soccer team wrapped up their regular season in championship style with a dominating 4-0 victory over Southern Miss in front of 1,048 fans at the UCF Soccer Complex Friday night.
With the win, UCF wraps up the Conference USA regular season title and earns a No. 1 seed for next week's C-USA Championship.

The Knights took control of the match early. Two minutes into the match, senior Becca Thomas turned at the top of the box and put a shot in the top right corner for her sixth goal of season. Fellow seniors Courtney Whidden and Amaka Ofuani assisted on the goal.
Whidden later scored the Knights' second goal of the game in the 32nd Minute on a cross from junior Lauren Halbert. The goal was Whidden's ninth of the season, which leads the team, and also the 31st of her career to put her in a tie for sixth all-time at UCF.
Katie Jackson scored her fifth goal of season seven minutes later, which gave the Knights a 3-0 lead into the locker room at halftime. In the second half, UCF added a late goal in 79th minute by Nicollette Radovcic, her 4th of season.
The Knights outshot Southern Miss 23-2 and senior goalie Lynzee Lee earned her fifth win of the season. She played the first 70 minutes of the match before being subbed by star sophmore Aline Reis, who picked up a save that moved her into a tie for fifth place all-time for saves by a goalie.
It was a big night for seven UCF seniors that played in thier final regular season game at home, including Amaka Ofuani who has been out all year with an injury. She was able to play her first game of season and finished with an assist.
Seniors Yvonne George, Nikki Moore, Becca Thomas, and Courtney Whidden all came in together in 2006 and have been a part of 56 wins and counting to go along with two regular season championships and will participate in their third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament in two weeks. UCF has placed a bid to host a regional.

The Knights will be looking to double up as champions this week at the C-USA Championship, hosted by SMU in Dallas, Tex. UCF will earn a bye in the first round of the tournament and will play their first game on Friday, Nov. 6. The championship match is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 8.Here to view this Link.
