Texas WR excited about UCF offer

Greenville (Tex.) wide receiver D'erren Wilson says he's intrigued by the UCF offer he landed on Thursday night and is looking forward to taking an official visit, possibly in December.
Wilson, who is 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, got the news via telephone from wide receivers coach Sean Beckton and defensive line coach Lorenzo Costantini, who had visited his high school just a couple days earlier.

"They told me they really loved my highlight," Wilson said. "They liked how I can make plays down the field. They have some receivers graduating after this year and they feel I'd be a good fit for the offense. They have a new quarterback that's getting better and better throughout the year."
UCF recruits the Houston and Dallas metro areas. They have one pledge from Houston (LB Marcus Foster) and two from the Dallas area (QB Bo Schneider and TE Jess Trussell). Greenville is about 45 miles northeast of Dallas. Wilson said he was told about UCF's commits from Texas.
"This is the first time I've had contact with UCF," Wilson said. "I like the competitiveness out of their team. I actually watched them last year in the Fiesta Bowl vs. Baylor. I know the quarterback came out and was drafted in the first round last year. I know Brandon Marshall went to UCF. The coach told me some of the receivers they have this year should be going to the league and will be drafted."
Beckton and Costantini invited Wilson to take an official visit down to Orlando either for December of January. No date was scheduled, but Wilson think it could end up being in December.
His other offers include Arkansas State, BYU, Indiana, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, New Mexico State, North Texas, Stephen F. Austin and Toledo. A few more schools talk to him on a regular basis, such as Miami-Ohio, Nevada and Southern Miss.
"Most of the coaches want me to take my visit after their season so they can spend time with me, instead of having it on a game weekend where they're busy with that," Wilson said.
Having never visited most of the schools, Wilson said he couldn't really name any favorites. What will he be looking for though?
"A good passing offense and a good relationship with the coaches," Wilson said.
With his team not qualifying for the playoffs, his high school season concludes tomorrow night.
"I'm not sure how I'll feel tomorrow," Wilson said. "I know I'll be playing somewhere in the future, so it won't be that sad."
