Top Orlando LB to visit UCF this weekend

One of Central Florida's top prospects will be at UCF for an official visit this weekend.

Oak Ridge linebacker Jonathan Jones, ranked the nation's No. 19 inside linebacker and No. 61 overall in the state, tells UCFSports.com he's looking forward to meeting the new staff and checking everything out.

"I'm very excited," Jones said in a message. "I can tell the new coaches are going to take the program in a new direction."

A longtime UCF target, Jones' interest was reinvigorated in recent weeks with the hire of Scott Frost. New defensive coordinator Erik Chinander connected with him last week and the visit was set.

Notre Dame, Syracuse and Michigan received visits from Jones during the season. He has a final visit to Duke scheduled for Jan. 22.

Other offers during the recruiting process have included Cincinnati, Florida, FAU, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Missouri, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, South Carolina, Stanford and West Virginia.

Frost has made a concentrated effort to make the local area a priority, reeling in commits in recent weeks from Jaquarius Bargnare (Dr. Phillips), Adrian Killins (Mainland) and Brandon Moore (Seminole).
