Tyrese Black commits to UCF

Josh Heupel and crew have their first commitment of the New Year.

Tyrese Black, a defensive tackle from McDonough, Ga., announced his commitment on Monday afternoon, a day after returning from his weekend official visit.

"First off, I want to thank God for giving me my talents and ability to play the game of football," Black posted in a tweet. "I would like to thank other colleges for recruiting me too, but after a long talk with the coaches and my family... I will be committing and spending the next four years at the University of Central Florida!"

Black was an immediate target of defensive line coach Shane Burnham following his hire in late December.

"What really sticks out to me the most is the coaches," Black said last week prior to his visit. "They actually care about your life off the field."

Arkansas, TCU, Louisville, Syracuse and Kentucky were a few of the other schools recruiting him.

UCF signed 13 players in December's first-ever early period, six of whom are already enrolled. The second signing period begins Wednesday, Feb. 7.
