UCF Leads for Pensacola DL

UCF is on top for a defensive lineman from the panhandle who visited over the weekend.
Pensacola (Fla.) Catholic defensive tackle Josh Sitton says he had a fantastic time in Orlando over the weekend.

"It was great," Sitton said on Sunday evening. "It went real well. I was very impressed with the place. The first night we got there we just hung out and had dinner. Then we went out for a little bit with the players. The next day we just toured the campus and all the facilities and everything. We checked out everything and it was just unbelievable. I didn't think it was that nice down there. It was awesome."
Sitton's player host for the trip was defensive end Chris Welsh. Favorite part of the visit?
"The food," Sitton said. "We ate at the hotel that first night and then we ate breakfast the second day down at the cafeteria where they eat. Then we had dinner at the stadium so that was pretty cool. We ate this morning at the hotel."
UCF had some interest in Sitton even before the coaching transition.
"I heard from their old staff and then it kind of got quiet there for a little while. Then I got a call about three weeks ago from Coach Huxtable. We set up a visit."
Sitton said three UCF coaches were recruiting him-- linebackers coach Dave Huxtable, defensive line coach Peter McCarty and tight ends coach Eric Green.
"Coach Green came down here a couple weeks ago," Sitton said.
UCF was Sitton's second official visit and he may be taking two more this week.
"I took a visit to Nicholls State last week and I'm taking a visit to UAB and Auburn this week," Sitton said. "I'm still debating if I'm taking the Auburn one or not. I'm not sure. They haven't offered. I'm expecting to figure that out tomorrow. If they offer then I'll take the visit and if not then I'm not. It would be this Thursday and Friday for UAB and then Friday, Saturday and Sunday for Auburn."
Any favorite schools yet?
"Central Florida is No. 1 right now," Sitton said.
Sitton was named second team All-State as an offensive lineman, but UCF is recruiting him for the defensive line.
"Everywhere else is recruiting me for the offensive line," Sitton said. "UCF is recruiting me for defensive tackle. This year I played offensive tackle, defensive end and a little bit of linebacker actually."
A three year starter, Sitton was also named first team All-Area and believes he ended up with about 50 tackles.
The UCF coaches will be in his house this week for the home visit.
"Coach Huxtable and Coach O'Leary are coming by this week," Sitton said. "It's probably going to be Wednesday and we'll see how that goes."
