UCF loses Brown

A day after returning home from his UCF official visit, Bryon Brown announced he is no longer committed to the Knights and will be reopening his recruitment.

The move comes as somewhat of a surprise because the Miami (Fla.) Norland cornerback had spoken highly of the Knights just 24 hours before and gave no indication then he was the verge of a decommitment.

"The visit was great," Brown told UCFSports.com on Sunday. "The new staff seemed excited. They're ready to start the season. I had a chance to kick it with Coach (Scott) Frost and he's probably the coolest head coach I've met. Things were organized and everything seems like it's in progress. Nothing but great things about the program so far from the players' perspective.

"My favorite thing was just meeting up with all the players and joking around. You can tell the team is getting closer and bonding better. The chemistry is building."

Brown is currently scheduled to visit NC State this upcoming weekend. He edited his Twitter bio to include the hashtag #Pack20, so that appears to be a strong sign of his ultimate destination. Illinois had also offered this month.

On Sunday night, longtime wide receiver commit Malick Mbodj also cut ties with the Knights following his visit to Cincinnati.

UCF has 12 commits (including mid-year offensive line signee Christian Beard) with a little more than a week until National Signing Day. The Knights have around 20 available scholarships, give or take, so that's approximately eight more spots to fill.
