UCF's 'feels like family' to Armwood athlete

Count Darrian McNeal among those impressed with UCF's pickup of Marvin Washington, the Dr. Phillips quarterback who committed on Monday.

McNeal, Armwood's quarterback but likely a receiver at the next level, tweeted praise of the addition shortly after Washington made his announcement. Both Armwood and Dr. Phillips competed in UCF's 7-on-7 tournament on Saturday.

"Washington is big," McNeal said. "Big arm."

McNeal himself is one of UCF's top targets, having earned an offer several months ago. The Knights see him as a natural slot receiver in their #UCFast offense.

"I loved it," McNeal said of Saturday's return trip to campus. "I love it every time I go down. The coaches love me. They show me so much love, from the head coach to the offensive coordinator to the trainers, even the office staff."

His offer count is close to 30 including the likes of Arizona, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, USF, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

He's not quite ready to make a decision, but UCF definitely ranks high on his list.

"It feels like family down there," McNeal said of UCF. "Home feeling."
