Vaccaro-Dixon visits UCF

Port Charlotte (Fla.) safety Malik Vaccaro-Dixon was always planning to attend UCF's upcoming Junior Day, but he decided to get a sneak peek last weekend.
Recently offered by the Knights, Vaccaro-Dixon dropped by last Saturday's practice, which was his first-ever visit to campus.

"It went really good," Vaccaro-Dixon said. "They showed me how college football players play and the differences from high school to college. It's a different intensity level. Everybody is always running to the ball and running back and forth on and off the field. It was a good experience. It showed me what I can look forward to."
During the practice, he was escorted by Director of Player Personnel Keegan Kennedy. Afterward, he was able to meet his recruiter, secondary coach Kirk Callahan, defensive coordinator Tyson Summers and head coach George O'Leary.
"(Kennedy) was pointing out players to me, like who were the safeties," Vaccaro-Dixon said. "Then I got to talk to the defensive coordinator. We talked for a good bit. I met the head coach after practice too. It was good. He kind of joked around with me and laughed.
"After that we went into the main facility where the weight room is. Everything is real close together for football. They showed me the weight room records for the safeties."
Favorite part about the visit?
"I liked how the defensive coordinator talked to the DBs," Vaccaro-Dixon said. "He explained what they did wrong and what they need to do better. He kept the intensity up. Let's get after it, let's go."
He'll return on Saturday for UCF's Junior Day.
"I'm really interested in UCF," Vaccaro-Dixon said. "I'm coming back so I can see more of the campus, see more of what they're all about. It was a really good experience just coming out for the practice. I can take things from what I saw, how the safeties broke to the ball, stuff that can help my game."
Vaccaro-Dixon will be at Florida's practice on March 29 and a week later he plans to travel to Appalachian State for their spring game and junior day. In recent days, Miami, FAU, Georgia Southern and James Madison got in touch to say they plan on recruiting him.
"I'm keeping my options open," he said. "Everything is a blessing. I don't want to close any doors. I'm open to everyone."
