On the eve of National Signing Day, UCF lands one of their biggest targets.

Marlon Williams, a wide receiver from McGill-Toolen High School in Mobile, Ala., announced that will be signing a letter of intent with the Knights on Wednesday. The former USC commit had also been considering Georgia Tech where he had visited this past weekend.

"I just felt comfortable with the coaches at UCF," Williams said. "I'm familiar with the offense. I know I can make an immediate impact, but I'm not scared to compete anywhere. I know that UCF is on their way to becoming a really good team. I'd like to be a part of that."

Williams called the coaches earlier in the afternoon to give them the word, speaking with head coach Scott Frost and his recruiter and future position coach, Troy Walters, who is also UCF's offensive coordinator.

"They were really excited," Williams said. "They said they were looking forward to me coming in and making an impact as soon as I step on the field."

What else stood out about UCF?

"I liked the campus a lot," Williams said. "When I was touring around on my visit a couple weeks ago, I had a feeling that I would end up there."

Williams already has forged a close relationship with the other members of UCF's class, particularly quarterback Noah Vedral who visited the same weekend.

"(The commits) actually knew earlier today (about my decision)," Williams said. "We're all in a group chat and I told them."

He may not be UCF's only signee from Alabama. The Knights are among the finalists for linebacker Sterling Jones, who will announce Wednesday.

"We actually already know each other," Williams said. "We played in the Mississippi-Alabama game together."

Goals for the future?

"I just want to make my teammates better and better myself," Williams said.

Williams is UCF's 19th pledge and will await decisions from several players making signing day decisions, including linebackers Sterling Jones and L.J. Cummings, wide receiver Jacquez Jones and running back Bentavious Thompson. UCF is also in the mix for four-star running back Cordarrian Richardson, who says he will now wait until next week to make a final decision between the Knights, Rutgers and Michigan State.
