Boom! Jamaal Johnson commits to UCF

As Jamaal Johnson put it, he's locked in and excited to join the Gus Bus.

The Chaminade Madonna defensive lineman committed to UCF on Friday, just days after his official visit for Bounce House Weekend.

Formerly committed to Miami, Johnson had emerged as a top target of Gus Malzahn and staff. He had also visited UCF unofficially earlier in June.

As a junior, Johnson tallied 13 sacks with 54 total tackles.

"His attitude is what makes him a great player - he works hard and never gives up," Chaminade Madonna defensive line coach Gregory Pierre-Lewis told Miami Rivals in an earlier story. "On the field he has great technique as far as his hands go. He's one of the strongest kids we have, has some quickness to him. He's a great player all-around, is very detail-oriented."

Johnson becomes the third Class of 2022 commitment for UCF, joining offensive lineman Miguel Maldonado and quarterback Thomas Castellanos, both of whom also visited during Bounce House Weekend.
