Miami Northwestern defensive end/linebacker Demetreius Mayes Jr. committed to UCF on Tuesday, becoming the Knights' sixth overall pledge for 2018 and third in as many days.

The Defensive Line MVP of the Miami Rivals Camp, Mayes fielded other offers from FAU, UAB, Purdue, Akron, Appalachian State, Toledo, Arkansas State, Buffalo, Jackson State and Colorado State.

As a junior, Mayes recorded 59 tackles, 10 sacks, three pass deflections, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery for a touchdown.

UCF has landed a trio of commitments in the past three days. Quarterback La'Darius Jefferson got the ball rolling on Sunday and linebacker Jontavious Ferguson followed suit on Monday. Those three join safety Avonta Crim, offensive lineman Eric Seidelman and tight end Justin McGriff.
