Speraw Adds Third Basketball Signee

ORLANDO – UCF men’s head basketball coach Kirk Speraw announced Monday that Kingsley Edwards from Monroe College in New York has signed a letter of intent and committed to play for the Golden Knights beginning in the 2003-04 season.
Edwards, a 6-0, 175 pound guard from the Bronx, N.Y., averaged 16.1 points and nearly four rebounds a game for a Monroe squad that finished the season with a 31-3 mark. He led the Mustangs from long range, hitting just under 45 percent from behind the three-point line and was second in assists with five a game.

In 2003 Monroe, which was ranked 17th at the start of the season, advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament finishing fifth. Edwards was named as an all-tournament selection after averaging 18.2 points and 7.7 rebounds a game in the Mustangs four outings.
It is the Knights’ second signing in the past five days, and third overall, as Gary Johnson from Schoolcraft Community College in Michigan officially committed to UCF last week (April 23) and Marcus Avant committed to the Knights back in November.
