Tampa playmaker excited about UCF offer

UCF has emerged as one of Terence Dotson's favorite schools after the Tampa (Fla.) Hillsborough athlete made an unofficial visit to campus on Wednesday.

It was there the 5-foot-10 speedster was officially offered by Josh Heupel and staff.

"I had a great visit," Dotson said. "Everything stood out to me. Facilities, coaches, students, everything. The coaches told me all about the school and the team. They showed me how they would use me in their offense and how much I could help them."

The UCF staff told Dotson they see him as a perfect fit at wideout and slot receiver.

"I can go deep and catch balls in open spaces," Dotson said. "They could use also use me on like quick passes and screens. They showed me videos of the offense and said, 'That could be you.'"

UCF already has one Class of 2019 commitment from quarterback Charlie Dean, who is also from Tampa. Minutes after Dotson tweeted of his offer, Dean was encouraging him to come to Orlando.

"Charlie is a good friend of mine," Dotson said. "We're on the same 7-on-7 team."

When he's ready to make a decision, Dotson says the Knights will be the thick of it.

"Right now I'll say UCF,Vanderbilt, WVU, USF, Maryland and UNC are favorites," he said. "No order."

All have offered and so have Troy, FAU, FIU, Tulane, South Alabama, Cincinnati, Western Kentucky, UMass and Southern Miss.

Dotson is also a standout baseball player.
