UCF visit solidifies Wallaces commit

Louisiana defensive back Jarrius Wallace committed to UCF in early June sight unseen, shortly after receiving his offer.
After visiting Orlando last weekend, the hard-hitting safety says he's even more certain he made the right decision.

"I was surprised at how nice it was," Wallace said. "It was so big. I saw everything, the practice fields, the stadium, the indoor facility, the training room, the dorms. My favorite part was seeing how close everything was. It'll be easy to focus on football and academics. Everything is right there, the practice field, the dorms, the classrooms. You don't ever have to travel far."
He met head coach George O'Leary face-to-face as well as his future position coach, Andrew Thacker and recruiter Lorenzo Costantini.
"It was good (meeting with O'Leary)," Wallace said. "He joked with me a little bit. He talked to me about education, saying that comes first before football. He said I was a good fit in the program and they love me being there. Coach Thacker, I felt like I've known him my whole life. I'd love to play for him. It was a good feeling seeing Coach Zo again too."
UCF has already slotted him in as a free safety.
"That's a comfortable spot for me," Wallace said.
In an earlier interview, Wallace estimated he had about 50 tackles to go along with six interceptions as a junior.
"Playing safety is all about making plays," he said. "Just helping the defense get the offense the ball back. Just being a playmaker."
During this recent visit, Wallace met all of the freshman defensive backs as well as freshman defensive tackle Brendon Hayes who is also from Louisiana.
"It was good meeting them," Wallace said. "(Hayes) just told me to come in there, work real hard and everything will go well."
He was able to pose for a few photos wearing a No. 3 jersey.
"They showed us all their bowl and conference championship trophies," Wallace said. "They have a case full of all the NFL helmets of players who went to play at the next level."
Louisiana has been an active recruiting spot lately. The Knights had two signees there in 2015 (Hayes and Brandon Scott) and now Wallace will be joined by defensive tackle Myles Vigne, who committed Thursday night.
"I know who he is," Wallace said. "He plays on a good team. He just followed me back on Twitter so I'm about to DM him."
Wallace may schedule his official visit for a home game this season though he isn't sure yet. He does know that he's not really interested in other schools.
"I feel more confident in my decision," Wallace said. "I feel UCF is the best fit for me. It's everything I wanted. I feel much better know that I've seen it. It's a great opportunity. I feel really good about it and know UCF can help me become the best player I can be. I'm still being recruited, but I'm not concerned about any of that. UCF is where I want to go."
