A few weeks back, UCF posted a graphic showing Chad Brown's physical development since his freshman season.
As you can see from the photos, the change has been significant. In the year since team strength coach Alex Parr arrived, Brown has cut his body fat from 13 percent to nine all the while gaining another 10 pounds, increased his bench from 275 pounds to 320 and adding three inches to his vertical.
"I dedicated myself to changing my body and making a difference for me and for the team as well," Brown said. "For me to play every night the way I need to, my body needs to be a certain way. I feel it gives me an opportunity to play for longer periods of time. Also with my body changing, it kind of intimidates guys. I'm showing people I'm not afraid to bang and go down there and rough up some guys. I've been working on my game basketball wise too. Working on my jump shot, my threes, my inside presence. I think it's all going to pay off."
Brown was arguably UCF's most-improved player last season. He was always one of the first players off the bench, averaging 4.3 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
With more depth this season, Brown says you'll see a team that operates at a much faster pace.
"We've been practicing sprinting up and down the floor and pressing," Brown said. "Getting after guys. The No. 1 thing Coach (Dawkins) talks about is competing. Playing with passion. Defensively, we're really going to get after guys. We'll be doing things a little differently than last year. It'll be good for our game."
UCF's season opener is Friday, Nov. 10 against Mercer.
