Miami Senior cornerback Derek Gainous is looking forward to meeting new head coach Josh Heupel when he takes his official visit next weekend.

The UCF commit was contacted Monday night by Heupel and defensive coordinator Randy Shannon.

"Coach Heupel and Coach Shannon sounded excited to get things rolling at UCF," Gainous said. "They told me they'd be in contact again later this week. We also set up my visit for next weekend."

Heupel and Shannon told Gainous they'd let him know as soon as possible about other coaching hires, including who the new secondary coach will be.

USF, Tulane and UNLV have continued to recruit him this season, but he hasn't set up any other visits. He also had offers from NC State, FAU and FIU.
